Please share your stories of how CARES is making a difference.

You all know and love Shawn & Sara Bettes…they faithfully served a year and a half as the CARES team at Santa Rosa Apartments- just right down the street from IBC. They connected with one of the residents, _____, who had lived a life as a gang member, but was at a point in his life where he now had a daughter and was rethinking things. Shawn & Sara invited him to come to IBC two Easters ago, and he was truly impacted by watching “The Passion of the Christ” here at the church. Shawn explained the Gospel to him, and he was really moved. Well, since that time, Shawn & Sara ended their time with CARES and a new team came along. I was visiting with the current team last week, and they were really excited to tell me that they had led one of their residents to Christ- his name was Angel. It was so cool to see God’s fingerprint in it all- I am personally thankful to Shawn and Sara’s willingness to live authentically and sacrificially in our community- heaven is a little more crowded because of their willingness to serve :).

Daniel & Julie David, another CARES team serving just south of IBC, had built some great relationships with many residents and thought it would be a good idea to begin a small, intimate Bible study at their apartment. One of the residents who came wasn’t raised in the church had a lot of questions- so they thought that Alpha would be a great place for her to continue her spiritual search. To her credit, she signed up and has been coming every week to our off-site Alpha at Farina’s in Grapevine. Two weeks ago, she told Daniel & Julie that she had decided to place her faith in Christ! She attended church with them this past weekend, and is looking at getting baptized soon :).
